My English Experience at Senior High School

As we know, in Indonesia English is a foreign language not second language. It’s differently with other country. In Indonesia English is as a foreign Language. So learning English is very important for many people in the world, but right now English is most important. As a English teacher we should know about the students needs to improve their knowledge in learning especially in learning English and to be a professional English teacher we should more often thinking what is method having to wearing for teaching English in school, because it will help the teacher and the students in learning process in order to learning process more effective and the teacher can motivate the students in the classroom in learning process. In my school (SMK N 1 DHARMASRAYA) there are some methods wearing by teacher such as: Grammar Translation Method (GTM), Audio Lingual Method (ALM), Direct Method (DM) and so on.

The first method is Grammar Translation Method (GTM). In here the teachers focus on at grammatical role, learning based on vocabulary, something memorization etc. Though felt difficult for me, but I enjoy learning with my teacher. 

The next method is Audio Lingual Method (ALM). In this method the teacher wearing of drilling method. In drilling method we are very enjoy because in this moment we are can lauder the voice concurrently with my friends. This method, we teach drill word by word. The teacher said “This method can make good our vocabulary”. 

The last method is Direct Method (DM). In direct method we are teach speaking. In here, we asking for to memorization of dialogue a few moment, and continue presenting in front of the class. At the moment, I’m very nervous.

With many methods that used of teachers in school it will make learning become fun of the students. Because, the students in learning easy to boring. So, the teachers must be knew many methods and ways to teaching the students in learning especially in learning English because English is a second language of Indonesian.

As a professional English teacher we should motivate the students in order to we can develop the knowledge of the students. And then, the teacher should know the characteristics and ability of the students with approach to the students in learning. It can make the teacher easy to give the lesson to the students in learning process. The process which is the student learning in second language in addition to their first language. We need some strategies to teach the students in learning English and make English not difficult to study. The teachers make the student to interest with learning English as foreign language. With English we can speak with many people in other country because English is international language.

In conclusion, The teacher must be motivate the students and make the students become more enjoy in learning English with used methods and strategies that used in the school of the teacher. And in the future they are can speak English fluently and they are interest with English. in my school there are some methods wearing by teacher such as: Grammar Translation Method (GTM), Audio Lingual Method (ALM), Direct Method (DM), etc. In fact of study English is not as hard as long as we will learn more and more.
